Fairmount Line
The FAIRMONT LINE is a short new commuter rail line in Boston which was created as a consolation prize to some of the city’s more disadvantaged neighborhoods. Back in the late 1980’s these communities lost their beloved, efficient, but hideous elevated rail line –the old Orange Line. They were then promised a replacement as part of Boston’s automobile extravaganza, The Big Dig. A promise that was never fulfilled. Until now. Sort of.
